A Romford and Hornchurch Councillor and Candidate have heeded the Member of Parliament for Romford’s call to support “Operation Raise the Colours” in Havering.
Councillor Judith Holt and Mr Martin Firmstone, the Conservative Councillor and Candidate for St. Alban’s Ward, have pledged to support the initiative which is sweeping the country and has seen the raising of over one million Union Jacks, St. George’s Crosses and other UK flags.
“I have never been bashful about displaying my support for my King or Queen and Country – there are flags are in my living-room window at the moment and I decorate the front of my flat for special occasions, like The King’s Coronation and The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee,” commented Councillor Holt. “People may say there are more important things to be concerned with than flags. However, this IS important – it’s about our basic freedom to fly our national flag – something which ought not to be even in question.”
“Wherever our flags may be hoisted, they’re an expression of patriotism and love of our country, ” added Mr Firmstone. “Businesses in St. Alban’s Ward like The Wheatsheaf Pub and a particular house in Princes Road are proud to fly the flags all year round. We would encourage as many people as possible in Romford and Hornchurch to RAISE THE COLOURS!”
